The photo was taken at Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, situated on the Bagmati River of four Sadhus.
It is believed that this temple was built when a lingam or an aniconic representation of the Hindu god Shiva was discovered here. Generations and generations of people have been inside this sacred place seeking something, asking for answers to questions that may have been keeping them up at night. A place where faith is probably the most important thing. A belief in something that has never been proved to be true. Yet, people are drawn to the idea that a powerful being looks over us to guide us and protect us when we are in need.
A place housing so much belief and four different people holding so much wisdom. The concept is fascinating that an idea, person, or place can have profound meaning and influence.
